Tales of Slow & Simple | 08
I love finding peace in the quiet moments scattered throughout my day, where simplicity and stillness invite me to pause and appreciate the beauty around me.
In my Tales of Slow & Simple series, I’ll be sharing with you my journey of embracing and living a slower and simpler life; one that is filled with little moments of joy, discovery, healing, mindfulness, and intentionality, and one that prioritises my energy for what matters most.
I love finding peace in the quiet moments scattered throughout my day, where simplicity and stillness invite me to pause and appreciate the beauty around me. I think spring and summer definitely help a lot with this. There’s something about the warmth in the air, the light lingering a little longer, and the way nature is fully alive again. It feels easier to notice every beautiful detail that's blooming, each flower, birdsong, and breeze reminding me to slow down and really take it all in.
For this month’s Tales of Slow & Simple, I’m sharing some of the quiet simple moments throughout my day that really do bring so much joy. I’d love to know some of yours too!
Spending my mornings more mindfully
Some of my favourite moments in the morning are quiet and simple: I love reading a few pages of a book, watching the birds as I eat breakfast, sipping something warm as I sit beside the window, and heading out for a walk. I also love to sometimes take a little time for some gentle exercises, to sit quietly in the sun for a while and feel the warmth of it on my skin, and to breathe in the fresh morning air.
Nature-filled moments
A walk through the garden can feel so healing. There’s always something new to notice; a beautiful bloom catching the light, the lovely scent of roses filling the air, the hum of bees at work. Sometimes a single butterfly flutters past, and I hear the tapping sound of the squirrel box closing as they come and go, collecting their nuts (most of which end up buried somewhere!). I love all these little gifts that nature brings.

Little everyday rituals
I previously shared a few of the things that have helped and inspired me to embrace and bring more simplicity into my daily life which you can read here. Perhaps they might inspire you too. Little moments like doing a few simple stretches, reaching for a book instead of my phone, stopping what I’m doing to stare out the window and daydream, feeding the birds, quietly thinking about what I’m thankful for, and making a space feel a bit more cosy.
Evening moments
After tea, David and I usually go for our evening walk… if the weather is nice. Though now and then, we’ve even gone out in the rain! Sometimes it actually feels quite refreshing to be out in the rain after a very sunny, warm day. I love how the lighter evenings let us spot a few extra cats along the way. I can’t walk past a cat without stopping to give it a little fuss. It’s so lovely to hear the birds singing late into the evening and to see bats flying overhead.
