Some really great tips here. I’ve been thinking about simplifying my wardrobe for a while so, when I have some time off after Christmas, my aim is to give it a go. 🤞🏻
I love the phrase “Do I really need it, or just want it?”. I’m already quite good at simplifying and having less stuff but I do still catch myself buying things for the sake of rewarding myself and instant gratification. This is mostly the case when I buy second hand at charity shops. Though I don't spend much, I still sometimes end up with clothes I don’t end up wearing often, if at all. This is definitely a habit I want to be more mindful of and only buy what I’m actually going to wear. So next time when I’m second hand shopping, I’ll hopefully remember do ask myself if I actually need it (or going to wear it often) or just want it for the sake of instant gratification.
Enjoyed reading this Clementine. Decluttering is such a key part of simplifying life isn't it. At the beginning of my journey I followed Marie Kondo's method, but through the process I discovered Joshua Becker's Minimalist Home, and Cal Newport's Digital Minimalism. Both have been instrumental in my simplifying journey. Not there yet by a long shot, but I'm in a much better space, physically and mentally because of the process. Thank you for sharing.
We also have too much stuff in our home. I try to reduce it all the time to make life easier and simpler. My problem is that we’re both creative people who work in a variety of media and so many things have the potential to be useful! We also have a policy of not buying but only reusing resources, so we keep things, just in case!
Ohh I've been doing a lot of the same things and it began to make me feel so much calmer. I do still "struggle" with limiting my screen time as I can still feel I'm missing out or that I'm not interacting enough with my community. But the amount of energy it can take to shift through content and not overconsume is so much! I have to be mindful of this and focus on what truly matters and put my energy into this. 😊✨❤
