Digital Marketing with the Seasons | 07
Here are a few simple marketing ideas to help you slow down, so you can notice and discover the beauty around you, not just outside, but also within your work.
If you are a small business owner, creative, or a kindred spirit, and are seeking some inspiration and encouragement for your digital marketing, you’re in the right place. We’ll journey together through the seasons, embracing the ebb and flow, and I’ll help you discover how your digital marketing can be inspired by the natural world, for a slower, simpler, and more soulful approach.
This time of year really is special. Nature is flourishing and thriving, young birds have left their nests and fill the longer, brighter evenings with their tuneful songs. The garden is alive with colour, and the warm sunlight feels comforting and nurturing. Yet, it’s easy to overlook these quiet, beautiful moments around us.
That’s why today feels like the perfect chance to pause, and I’ll share with you a few simple marketing ideas to help you slow down, so you have time to notice and discover the beauty around you, not just outside, but also within your work… because in that space, we often rediscover inspiration, clarity, and joy that was there all along.
Plus, with so many other things to enjoy and to take care of over the summer, getting your content ready ahead of time can bring a little more ease and breathing space.
This season, take a moment to pause and breathe… there’s beauty blooming all around you, both in nature and within your work. When you slow down, you create space to notice, nurture, and welcome growth that feels good and aligned.
I know how overwhelming it can feel when it seems like your content well has run dry, when you're staring at a blank screen thinking, “What on earth do I even post next?” I’ve found myself in that place more times than I can count.
That’s why I started using a few simple steps to refill my content well. I’ve shared 3 of them below. It saves time and energy, helps me see the beauty in what I’ve already written, keeps me inspired, and lets me focus on what really matters. This way, I can also make time for the things I love, while my content supports my business quietly and in the background.
Revisit and reuse your content
You might be surprised by what you already have! Coming up with new content can feel like a chore, but chances are, you’ve already created plenty. Take a look back at what you’ve shared before and see how you can reuse it. A blog post can become a carousel or reel on Instagram. A social media post might work well as an email. Even an old email could spark an idea for a podcast episode. I’ve also found that just a sentence or two from a longer piece of content, like a blog post, can inspire new ideas for future blog posts.Reflect on where you love to gather inspiration
Sometimes, inspiration is right in front of us. It might come from a book you're reading, the latest magazine (or if you're like me and it takes ages to finish one, maybe an older issue!), or even a post here on Substack or social media. It’s a wonderful way to refill your content well, so you always have plenty to draw from. It’s also a lovely way to gather inspiration from the things we love doing, while enjoying those slow moments.
For example, I love reading business books. They inspired a blog post where I shared my top 3 recommendations for small business owners. I even turned that post into a reel! I’m also huge fan of the Anne of Green Gables books, and one of my favourite quotes really spoke to me, so I decided to share it in a social media post. It was a fun way to reflect on how that quote connects with my small business journey and the values I hold close. Are you posting too often?
That’s right… while showing up consistently is important, sometimes we can actually be doing too much. I’ve been noticing this in my own routine lately, and I’m learning to be a bit kinder with my energy. My current plan is to aim for three to four social media posts a week, along with one blog post and one Substack post. Some weeks may look different than others, and that’s okay. The key is to focus on consistency and quality, rather than trying to do everything all at once. That way, we free up more time and energy to focus on what matters most, both in our work and in our everyday lives.
…Plus, our audience knows when to expect our posts and what they’ll get, that’s the beauty of consistency. It doesn’t have to be every day, but it creates a nice rhythm that works for us and becomes familiar to our audience.
