Moments in Nature | 06
The garden is coming to life, with new growth, joyful birdsong, and spring unfolding in every corner.
In my Moments in Nature series, you’re warmly invited to pause and wander - beyond the kitchen window, and through the garden gate - into a quiet world of seasonal beauty.
It’s a monthly offering of seasonal stillness; a collection of photographs and quiet reflections that celebrate the ever-changing beauty of the natural world.
It’s an invitation to slow down, to notice the way the light shifts, the flowers bloom, as each season leaves its trace in small, beautiful ways.
Step outside with me, and rediscover the wonder tucked into the everyday.
A warm welcome to the next chapter of my Moments in Nature series (hasn't the weather been just lovely?).
The garden is looking wonderfully green right now, and it's been a joy to watch all the new growth spreading across the ground. I've even noticed a few plants that seem to have appeared overnight, already making their presence known; it's as if they’ve been waiting for the right moment to show up!
The trees beyond the garden fence are slowly turning greener. The crows at the top have been busy with their nests, while the squirrels gather more nuts. Birdsong fills the air, echoing all around. The tulips are stretching higher, soaking in the warmth of the sun. The bees are gathering the first nectar of the year, and the rose bushes are reaching up, eager to touch the sun. I’ve also noticed a few butterflies and ladybirds, playfully enjoying the sunny weather.
As you read through today’s journal entry, I’ve included a recording of the birdsong that filled our garden. At first, I thought just a minute or two would do, but the longer I listened, the more I noticed - birds fluttering, bees buzzing, the soft rustle of the breeze… even a few cheeky seagulls joined in! I hope you’ll take a moment to listen along and see what sounds you can hear, too.
We were starting to wonder if the Lamprocapnos (aka bleeding heart) would grow this year, as we couldn’t see any sign of it. But suddenly, there it is, with little pink hearts folded tightly, ready to burst open.
A lovely Hellebore had appeared in the garden. I usually see these flowers nodding softly toward the ground, but this one seemed to be reaching for the sun, as if it was happily posing for a photo, eager to show off its tiny, delicate details.
I think the fluffy, frilly daffodils might just be my favourite. There’s something so sweet and joyful about them.
Acting curious about what I’m up to, but really sneaking glances at the bird seed!
How is this spring weather inspiring you to pause and appreciate the little moments around you?
Until next time…
