Don't you just love discovering a place that feels like home, and you're filled with so much excitement to go back? For David and me, Matlock Bath is that special place.
Back in 2021, we stumbled upon a charming cottage on Airbnb and booked it for a few nights for our second mini holiday as a couple. Now, in 2024, we've returned for the fifth time and already can't wait for our next stay and adventure there.
Every time we go, we always discover and find something new, whether it’s a piece of exciting history, a new trail to walk along, interesting destinations to explore, or the wonders and beauty of nature.
Whenever we are here, it definitely leaves us feeling inspired, rejuvenated, and bursting with ideas we’re eager to put into action. It’s a wonderful spot for reflection, and it never fails to spark my creativity!
Typically, we've visited Matlock Bath during the cooler months, where we've enjoyed walks in the autumn and late winter, but this time we chose to stay during the warmer weather to fully experience nature in its prime. While we enjoyed many walks, it was also nice to spend more time at our Airbnb, relaxing outside and taking in the view.
If you've been to Matlock Bath in the summer, you're probably aware of how busy the town can get. However, as you make your way up to higher ground, where the views are breathtaking, it becomes wonderfully peaceful. I love that you are completely surrounded by nature.
I deeply appreciated the time we spent outside amongst nature, the slow moments of being fully present, while savouring the simple pleasures, noticing the little details, and absorbing the surrounding beauty.
I love what
wrote over on his Substack, when reflecting on our time away:“Somehow, being away from home allows us to see things in a different light, with an alternative vision, offering us a much-needed different perspective.”
Do you have a favourite place where you find peace and rejuvenation?
Until next time…

Very thoughtful 💕
I know that feeling of home away from home! There is a small Swiss town that makes me feel like at home and every time I visit, it's such a relaxing trip. It's not touristic but it has its own railway station so I can easily hop on a train and visit other bigger cities.
